Indicators

An indicator row adds a study to a chart — an overlay like a moving average, or its own panel like RSI — and it's the one row type gated to the Chart module alone; no other query bar in the platform accepts it.

NAME(params) form

NAME(PARAM[, PARAM ...]) [OPTIONS:{KEY:VALUE, ...}]
  • Parens are always present, even for an indicator with no parameters — the chart's autocomplete inserts them the moment you pick a name, so you never type ( yourself.
  • NAME is an indicator name from the registry, e.g. SMA, EMA, RSI, MACD, VWAP, BB. Every built-in — its exact VectarisQL name, the strategy key it maps to, and its outputs — is listed in the indicator catalogue.
  • Params are comma-separated numbers, positional — SMA(14) is a 14-period simple moving average; MACD(12, 26, 9) is fast period, slow period, signal period. Leave a param off and the indicator falls back to that parameter's default from the catalogue.

OPTIONS: input, panel, axis

Key Kind Values
INPUT row reference $1, $2, $name
PANEL panel reference $1, NEW
AXIS enum INHERIT, LEFT, RIGHT

INPUT re-points the indicator at another row's output instead of the underlying price series; PANEL sends it to an existing panel by position, or opens a fresh one with NEW. See VectarisQL options for how these compare against data-series OPTIONS keys.

Row references

$1, $2, … reference rows by position; $name references a row by nickname. Nicknames are assigned out-of-band — outside the row's own text — so a nickname never appears as syntax inside the row string itself, only inside another row's OPTIONS value.

EMA(20)
RSI(14) OPTIONS:{PANEL:NEW}
MACD(12, 26, 9) OPTIONS:{PANEL:NEW, AXIS:RIGHT}
