Scripting

Drawing Tools

Drawing tools are the third script type the Editor is designed around, alongside strategies and indicators — but they aren't built yet.

Status

Coming soon. The Editor's New-script picker already shows a Drawing tool card next to Strategy and Indicator, but it's disabled — there's no drawing-tool runtime behind it yet. The library's data model has a slot reserved for drawing-tool scripts, so the plumbing is ready; only the scripting surface itself is missing.

What it will be

The plan is a scriptable version of a chart drawing — following the same library and Editor flow as strategies and indicators today: pick "Drawing tool" from New script, get a starter template, save it, and it shows up in the sidebar alongside your strategies and indicators. No API exists for it yet, so there's nothing more concrete to document here until it ships.

What to use today

  • Built-in drawing tools — trend lines, channels, Fibonacci levels, shapes, patterns, and annotations are already available directly on the chart; they're native chart features, not scripts, and don't go through the Editor.
  • Indicator scripts — for anything you need computed and plotted rather than drawn by hand, write an indicator script instead; it can plot lines, histograms, and dots derived from your own calculation.
